FORT KNOX, Ky. -- A Fort Knox soldier and his wife were found shot to death early Friday inside their home on the post.
The Army says Fort Knox Police responded to the home around 3:40 a.m. after receiving a 911 phone call.
When they arrived, the officers heard gunfire inside the residence. One person was found dead. The other was given first aid by military police, but died at the scene.
Officers found two children unharmed in the home.
The incident appears to be the result of a domestic dispute, according to Chris Grey with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Fort Knox officials say there is no existing threat to the public.
The names of the dead are being withheld until 24 hours after their families have been notified.
