FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Ribbon-cutting was held Friday for the new Capitol Education Center in Frankfort.
60,000 students tour the Capitol campus every year. First Lady Jane Beshear says while watching them standing outside waiting for Capitol tours to begin, noticed they had nowhere to go during inclement weather. So, a former heating and cooling plant building was "recycled" into a visitors center.
She says it promotes sustainability and green practices, even featuring a roof top display of solar panels, a wind turbine and a garden.
The center is located between the parking garage and the Governor's Mansion.
