FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky Senate has approved legislation that requires women seeking abortions to have an ultrasound and face-to-face medical consultation.

The two bills now head to the House, where similar legislation has died in previous sessions.

Republican Senator Katie Stine voted in favor of the measures, saying women should "have all of the facts" before having an abortion.

Democrat Kathy Stine opposed the bills, saying they are a further attempt to restrict women from having a legal medical procedure.
