LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A deal has been reached to reopen Kentucky Kingdom.
The State Fair Board approved a preliminary lease agreement with a group led by developer Ed Hart.
The 50-year lease calls for Hart to invest $45 million to reopen the amusement park as early as 2014.
Governor Beshear encouraged the board to approve the lease, which he said does not put any burden on taxpayers.
Kentucky Kingdom has been closed since 2009, when Six Flags underwent bankruptcy proceedings.
